Make Texas Dog Fighting Laws Tougher

The current penalties on dog fighting in Texas are much too lenient.  State Representative Jose Menendez refuses to author legislation making them stronger.  The current laws in the Penal Code of Texas are either Class A misdemeanors or State Jail Felonies.  The worse punishment anyone can get for causing dogs to fight, is 2 years in jail......or less.This is deplorable. This petition is going to be sent to all members of the Texas House and Senate.  The signers of this petition want legislation to make all areas of dog fighting 3rd Degree Felonies.  That will insure that people who are convicted of this crime, will get 10 years of jail.  So, even if you are only attending a dog fight, you will not see freedom for a decade.
