Post War Military Mental and Medical interventions

Interesting...I just watched a documentary on War Heros (Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq) who were physically injured in the war as a way of healing. They all expressed what I would go out on a limb and say have symptoms that resemble PTSD. They were very candid about being in the front line, discussed coming back to civilian life, and all the issues surrounding their families living in poverty, divorce and domestic violence, poor medical care and lack of psychological care. I wondered how helpful the experiment, or an attempt at Immersion therapy worked out. I hope there is a follow up because I would like to see if the "treatment" or "experiment" played out without psychologists or psychiatric care. Personally, I think injured military personnel have a "time out" in a safe zone with after care so these HERO'S are not left to "deal" with flashbacks, drug/alcohol addiction in an effort to self medicate. Sorry to put a downer on the Holiday spirit, but, I for one would be glad to offer my time free of charge to go and help these individuals out, instead of stuffing myself silly and spending tons of money on gifts most do not need or want (with the exception of children). Just saying...wish there was something I could do with my PhD that would promote social change.
