Additional original text from the petition:If the Government gives help in the form of ISAs, the £3,000 given to first time buyers will equate to a £30,000 price rise in percentage terms! How does this help? The only people it helps are property speculators and those already in possession of their own homes.
If you think we dont have enough land - consider this - only around 4% of the land mass of the UK is built up - if we have more people, we need more houses. House builders should be forced to build on land they have received planning permission for and not use land as an asset to boost their share price.
House prices and the amount people have to pay back to lenders, are the main source of economic drag in the UK - houses don't do work, they just sit there gobbling up money which could be spent on setting up businesses and growing the economy.
To change this situation MPs need to take themselves away from discussions on housing policy in respect of planning and other measures which artifically prop up extortionate prices. Ask youselves - why should I be denied a secure home and a resonable cost? Answer: because investors might not like it if anything was done to change this! How fair is this?
It is no use looking to other parties for help as they too have many MPs who are landlords themselves.
