I have been wondering why the Detroit Red Wings do not offer discount tickets for Active Duty, Retired, Veterans, and dependent family members. The Detroit Tigers offer one and this is a great "thank you" for our military personnel!
Once I went to purchase tickets and asked about a military discount. I was Active Duty at the time and was home for about 5 days on leave. I was told that one was not offered for military, but then I was asked if I had a "student" ID. I responded with a simple "no" because I was not attending college at the time. I was told that I could receive a student discount if I had a school ID. I found this to be ridiculous that a college student can receive a discount for tickets, but not a military member.
The Red Wings do hold Military Appreciation Night each season, but not a continuous opportunity for a discount. They also do have a military suite available. Not all deserving people can make it to these events. I am not looking for a handout here, just recognition for our troops that serve us so well and selflessly.
Dear Detroit Red Wings,
I would like for you to offer a military ticket discount. Other teams do it with great feedback! Seeing that a Student discount is offered, but not a Miitary one, makes me cringe. Military members defend all of us and should get a nice handshake from something of your magnitude. Can you please start offering this to Active Duty, Retired, Service-connected Disabled Veterans, and dependent family members? Thank you for your consideration and go Wings!
