We are calling for the immediate resignation of District 109 Superintendent Anthony McConnell, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning & Innovation Scott Schwartz and Board of Education President Nick Begley.
McConnell and Schwartz has proven time and time again that they are unfit to lead our district. Their lack of transparency and accountability is no longer acceptable and they refuse to work collaboratively with parents and teachers. Their inexperience and decision-making process is intolerable and unsupportable. Among the recent issues that they have ignored feedback on are standards-based grading, changes in middle school team structure, an abhorrent lack of special education support, the move to a two-tiered math program and deplorable personnel issues that go unaddressed and unchecked.
Begley, as leader of the Board, has contributed to the myriad of troublesome issues at hand. At Board meetings, he exercises no control over fellow Board members or the agenda and does not consider or show respect for parent or teacher feedback. He has been derelict in his duty to represent all school district constituents honestly, equally and respectfully and in his responsibility to represent the interests of the entire 109 community. We did not elect him to simply rubber stamp whatever the Administration recommends.
District 109 deserves more qualified and cooperative leaders. The reputation of District 109 has plummeted and it is effecting our children and our home values.
MANY OF US HAVE OUR OWN REASONS TO WANT A CHANGE IN THE DISTRICT. SIGNING THIS PETITION IS ASKING FOR CHANGE AND SHOWING SUPPORT FOR 109 TEACHERS, PARENTS AND CHILDREN.
