Family of slain civilian term his killing as cold blood murder by forces

    Sopore (J&K), July 01, 2020 : A CRPF trooper and an elderly civilian were killed on Wednesday morning and three other paramilitary troopers were injured in a militant attack on a CRPF party in Model town of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
    While Police is claiming that the civilian, accompanied by his 3-year old grandson at the time of incident, was killed in the cross fire, his family has alleged that he was killed in cold blood, after he was brought down from his car by the troopers and fired upon from a point blank range.
    Police sources told local news agency CNS that a patrolling party of Central Paramilitary troopers CRPF was attacked in Model town of Sopore by firing upon it indiscriminately.
    “Five people including four CRPF personnel were injured in the attack, among which a CRPF trooper and civilian succumbed”, he said.
    The civilian, who lost his life in the incident, was identified as Ghulam Mustafa Khan Son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan, a resident of Zainakot Srinagar, who was headed towards Sopore along with his infant grandson, when the incident occurred.
    Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, while confirming two deaths in the incident said that injured CRPF personnel were evacuating to 92 base hospital, where they are being attended by the doctors.
    The slain CRPF trooper was identified as Dipchand Verma, by official sources, while as the injured CRPF personnel were identified as Constable Bhoya Rajesh, Constable Deepak Patil and Nilesh Chawde.
    Soon after the attack whole area was been cordoned off and search operation was launched to nab the attackers.
    Meanwhile the family of the killed civilian has refuted the police claim of him being killed in the crossfire.
    They alleged that his killing was cold blooded murder by forces, as according them, he was dragged out of his car and shot at from a point blank range, in full view of his 3-year-old grandson.
