Urge Indian Prime Minister to Stop Abuse Against Captive Elephants!

Indian elephant trainers widely use painful tools to control captive elephants. Despite a ban on their use, contractors and festival organizers use sharp-tipped prods, steel capture belts and other painful objects to manipulate animals in their care.

The animal rights group Heritage Animal Task Force reported that a 73-year-old elephant kept in the Konni elephant camp of the Pathanmthitta district was tranquilized twice and tied up using a steel capture belt. This type of belt has sharp steel barbs inside that press into the elephant's skin and create deep wounds when the belt is tightened.

This animal abuse is illegal, but laws against it are not being enforced. Please sign the petition to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a stand against elephant abuse!

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the continuing elephant abuse in India. As you may know, Indian elephant trainers widely use painful tools to control captive elephants.

This animal abuse is illegal, but, unfortunately, laws against it are not being enforced. We respectfully urge you to take a stand against elephant abuse. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
