Don't Let Trump Restrict Voting by Mail. Demand Congress Take Action Now!

Having the option to vote in an election using mail-in ballots is extremely important in order to promote participation in a democracy. It's especially important, for example, for people in rural areas, people who work multiple jobs, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities, because going in-person to vote can be difficult or impossible.

Voting by mail is effective and safe. Studies have routinely concluded that it's generally secure, trustworthy, and boosts voter engagement. But, Donald Trump doesn't care about facts. He cares about getting what he wants. Which is why he signed an executive order to restrict voting by mail-in ballots - even though he himself has voted by mail before.

That's why we're asking for your help. The U.S. Congress must pass a law affirming and protecting mail-in voting for the whole country!

Trump has been trying to undermine trust in elections by calling mail-in voting "inherently corrupt" and comparing it to cheating. And it's complete hypocrisy, because he has voted not once, not twice, but 5 times by mail - including twice in 2026 already.

And now, the Supreme Court of the U.S. has agreed to let Trump's voter suppression tactics via his executive order proceed. This is horrendous timing, since there are only 2 months left before the highly-anticipated midterm elections in the U.S. That's only referring to Election Day itself, but early voting often begins weeks in advance, depending on the state.

Under Trump's executive order, not only will the U.S. Postal Service get to decide who's allowed to receive a mail-in ballot, but the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will also create a database of people who are allowed to vote, and try to gain access to state voter rolls.

As New York Attorney General Letitia James has said: "The right to vote is sacred, and no administration should be allowed to put that right in jeopardy by making it harder for eligible voters to cast their ballots."

With only 9 weeks left before Election Day, the timing couldn't be more crucial. Trying to create, implement, and follow-up on an entire new verification system for voting cannot be done successfully in such a short period of time. We can't let Trump's plan to interfere with voting continue. Since he's operating just on executive orders, we must urge Congress to step in and do its job to protect the American right to vote!
