Ask Southern States to Expand Access to Healthcare!

Americans living in the so-called "poverty belt" in the southern United States suffer from disproportionate crime, poverty and limited health care, and will live fewer years and in worse health post-retirement than their counterparts in more affluent regions. According to a Center for Disease Control report, Mississippi, Kentucky, West Virginia and Alabama fared the worst.

A year after the Affordable Care Act's implementation, governors in 24 states, including six southern states, still haven't expanded Medicaid, which research shows would impove access to health care after one year and save lives within five years.

People shouldn't have to suffer poor health and expect shorter lifespans just because of where they live. Please sign the petition to urge southern governors to expand access to healthcare!
