Corruption in Property Taxes to Homeowners in Lake County Indiana

For more than a few years my property in Crown Point, IN Lake County has been assessed at 3620 sq. ft. when it is actually 2580 sq. ft. Part of the increase in my taxes is due to the wrong square footage reported. The other part of the increase is due to an “improvements tax to my home that never happened. There was a hearing and the judge accepted my petition and the Lake County Assessor, Jerome Prince, was ordered to correct this error of incorrect square footage. That has not happened.
At my own expense, I hired a licensed land surveyor to survey my property. Zarko Sekerez and Associates, Inc. provided accurate legal and notarized documents that the assessor’s office would not accept.
I received a letter from Joe Krnick, April 17, 2018, and was told to withdraw my 2017 filed appeal or I may receive an even higher property tax bill. My tax bill has been denied.
To date, I am still receiving the wrong square footage tax assessment and am receiving the same365.29 exact incorrect bill. Lake County Assessor, Jerome Prince denied my documentation and thus denied what the judge ruled on August 5, 2018. I do not understand this denial because I received a check for some of the incorrect tax bills from 2016. I received two checks for $365.29 and $751.00. I was thinking that they were finally going to refund my stolen money. To my surprise and horror, I received my 2018 TAX BILL. The tax bill not only still had the improvements which were fraudulent but they were assessed higher than the disputed amount. The bill now jumps 3,200.00. Joe Krnich warned me that this would happen if I did not drop my appeal.
I would ask for your signature to help the Lake County Community to demand that our taxes are assessed correctly and justly. All proceeds of Go Fund Me and other fundraising efforts are going to the expenses incurred during this process. Nothing can be done without us standing together united. I am a Veteran and fought for our country. This corruption may happen in other parts of the world but not in the United States of America. Lastly, I will donate $1,000.00 to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Thank you Home Owners I hope to cause change in the Lake County Assessors Office. Specifically, Joe Krnich & Jerome Prince cannot illegally tax and extort money from hard working American Citizens.
