Save Us All From Lead Poisoning

By now, we know that lead and dust can cause terrible health problems. So why is it that the United States Environmental Protection Agency has not updated its standards regarding the hazards of these two substances?

Lead is particularly toxic to children. Those who inhale lead paint dust in old homes are at the gravest risk. Lead poisoning is well known to cause high blood pressure, heart disease, nerve disorders, and learning disabilities.

Please join me in asking the United States Environmental Protection Agency to update its lead and dust hazard standards, and modify the definition of lead-based paint to bring it in line with the latest science around public health risks.

Dear EPA:

I was surprised and dismayed to learn that the federal standards for dust and lead hazards have not been updated in many years. As I am sure you know, lead, especially lead paint in houses, represents a terrible health hazard for children. These kids are at risk for learning disabilities, heart disease, and other health issues. Please bring your official standards for lead and dust hazards in line with the current science that is available.
