Title: Stop Punishing Pit Bulls for Human Cruelty — Give Them a Chance to Live and Heal
Every day, pit bulls are judged, abandoned, abused, and killed—not because of who they are, but because of what humans have done to them.
They did not ask to be here.
They did not choose to be bred into suffering.
They did not choose to be abused, neglected, or forced into fighting.
Yet they are the ones paying the ultimate price.
Too many pit bulls are labeled “dangerous” and euthanized without ever being given a real chance. Instead of compassion, they are met with fear. Instead of rehabilitation, they are discarded. This is not justice—it is a heartbreaking failure of humanity.
These dogs are victims.
Victims of cruelty.
Victims of neglect.
Victims of a system that would rather destroy them than invest time, patience, and care.
But pit bulls are not beyond saving.
With love, understanding, structure, and respect, they can heal.
With proper training and rehabilitation, they can become loyal, gentle, and deeply loving companions.
They deserve the chance to show who they truly are—beyond the trauma forced onto them.
We are calling for:
An end to automatic euthanasia of pit bulls based on breed or past circumstances
Increased funding and support for rehabilitation and behavioral programs
Stronger accountability for abusers—not the dogs they harm
Public education to replace fear with understanding and responsible ownership
We cannot continue punishing victims for surviving abuse.
If we choose compassion, we can save lives.
If we choose patience, we can change outcomes.
If we choose love, we can give these dogs the life they never had.
They deserve a chance. Every single one of them.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Lemaire
