Funding Recommendations for 2020-2021 Budget
We the undersigned support the funding priorities determined by CASE member agencies after months of research and discussion between agencies as well as other entities including Senior and Disability Action, the Dignity Fund Coalition, and the Budget Justice Coalition.
Outreach – $400,000
• Only 1 in 4 older adults benefit from San Francisco's network of activities for seniors and adults with disabilities. Support the Annual Getting There Together festival as a highly visible celebration to reframe aging and improve awareness of services. Additionally, support is needed for neighborhood outreach to new consumers.
II. Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC) – Staff Retention – $213,596
• Increase salaries to retain employees who educate seniors and adults with disabilities on access to services.
III. LGBT Social Isolation – $295,000
• Citywide outreach efforts for those LGBT seniors hidden from the general population.
IV. Behavioral Health – $500,000
• On-site bi-weekly psychologists to support and train staff working with those challenged by behavioral health is-sues.
V. Trainings – $60,000
• Professional trainings to educate professional staff on topics such as Able-ism, Trauma Informed Care, Challenging Clients and more. CEU's could be offered.
CASE also supports the following advocacy requests:
• Food Security Task Force – funding for additional breakfast and dinner congregate meal sites
• HESPA – Requested funding for rental subsidies for seniors & people with disablities
