With the election of Donald Trump, emboldened right-wing Republicans in Congress have the knives out to carve up -- and eliminate -- Medicare.
Their stated goal is to privatize Medicare, forcing it to compete with insurance companies -- thereby removing the safety net for millions of Americans in place for more than 50 years.
Speaker Paul Ryan has made it clear that attacking and weakening Medicare is a top priority for the Republican Congress in 2017. Under the Ryan plan, seniors would be forced to use vouchers to access benefits while forcing beneficiaries to pay more for Medicare's fee for service arrangements.
America's seniors, already struggling, will be forced to make life-or-death health decisions as they are confronted with rising medical costs. In the meantime, conservative Republicans pushing the Medicare changes will be lining the pockets of insurance companies.
Please sign our petition demanding Congress keep its hands off Medicare. Privatizing Medicare and depriving millions of American seniors of health care are unacceptable.
