Rapid development at Buckroe Beach Hampton has obliterated most of this Beachfront's History .. Gone is Buckroe Amusement Park ..... Gone are The Beachfront Motels .. and now Private Housing all along it's Waterway has consumed over half of what was once Public Access To All......It is called progress to those who control it's Destiny ... The Buckroe Beach Lighthouse is Truly a Treasured Relic From Our Past .. It was Built back in the Late 1940's right along side of The Grand Buckroe Beach Hotel .Behind this Hotel was The Amusement Park which dated back the Late 1890's .. This Trio together Had Once Graced our Beachfront and Made History by being Major Tourist Attractions for The City of Hampton .. ...The Hotel itself did not survive after a series of storms over the years and The Amusement Park was closed in 1985 and was torn down in 1991 by The City of Hampton ... The Little Lighthouse is The Last remaining Connection to Buckroe Beach's Bygone era that so many of us remember.... My Main concern is it's Future ... What will become of the Last remaining parcel of Public property that has Access to the beachfront on which this Lighthouse sits on....At all cost The Buckroe Beach Lighthouse must be Preserved .. The City of Hampton Must Declare it a Protected Historic Landmark ..
