Lower Rents or rent control

The rents are too high and tge average local person does not make 3x the rent of 1700.00 a month which means you'd have to make over 5grand a month. The peninsula is based of tourism which mean most of the people living here work hospitality jobs which surely don't pay much more than 24,000 a year. The schools are seeing an increasing number of homeless students and familys due to the high rent. Some home owners are charging more tgan 1000.00 just to rent a room without any privileges or use of kitchen or laundry. This is my home and I don't want to move from here, but don't know how I can stay when my entire income goes to paying rent. I'm sad that I don't enjoy the paradise o grew up in because I'm broke. I can't afford to go anywhere after I give both my paychecks to my landlord just to keep a roof over my head. Lower or build housing for lower income residence.
