Save the 1896 Ice House at 203 SE Green St in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

This unique historical building is the only stone building surviving in Downtown Lee's Summit. It represents a modest utilitarian, but solid construction linked to two important local families: The H.J. Hess family, (the architect), and the W.C. Cooper family, (the builder). The Ice House served Lee's Summit as a meat packing business, an Ice House, an automobile garage, an antique store and an antique auction business. The City of Lee's Summit bought it and should repurpose it to be part of the voter approved "Downtown City Market Plaza." Once listed on the National Register of Historic Places, our City of Lee's Summit should identify a private-for-business entity to operate the Ice House and benefit from generous tax credits for approved restoration, 25% State of Missouri plus 20% Federal Government for approved restoration work.
