The matter is important as the safety and security of pedestrians as well as vehicle owners are risked seriously when these lines are erased or worn out in continuous traffic on the roads. The time and efforts being lost is quite substantial in the even of an accident to both pedestrians and other road users.
This is to share my concern towards the numerous Zebra lines (pedestrian crossings) being left with erased/worn out markings on the road and without a proper warning sign or illuminated sign boards across all of our highways and roads. Sometimes the drivers are taken by surprise that there is no sign or display to identify the crossings while pedestrians use the same for safe crossings.
It is requested to take immediate and urgent measures to mark the same with proper numbering(alphanumeric or otherwise) to identify each and every zebra crossings and to have sign boards with solar or electric signboards and or reflective signs to ensure visibility during night traffic from a safe distance.
Statistics shows around thousands or more of fatal accidents happening all around the nation annually. The number of major accidents including disabilities may be quite staggering to mention here.
The concerned surface transport ministry of Central Govt. may be urged to take immediate and urgent steps to implement appropriate signboards with maintenance instructions to safeguard the security of pedestrians and to alert the drivers sufficiently in advance from a safe distance from the crossings.
Kindly rememer, that all of us are forced to be pedstrians before or after boarding a vehicle on the roads!
