Allow Cap Decoration

As we seniors are preparing for upcoming challenges, such as applying to colleges, finding jobs, all the while maintaining good grades, juggling sporting events, etc., by the end of the year, we are beaten down from stress and anxiety. By the end of the first semester, senioritis is at an all time high. In the midst of all the stress of graduating soon, we’ve realized that we lack one simple freedom that many seniors across Virginia have: the choice to decorate their caps.
There has been a long battle with the school on whether students should be allowed to decorate caps or not. We should be able to express ourselves one last time through something as meaningful as high school graduation! There are so many diverse, talented, dedicated students at West Point that would love to be given this opportunity and already have ideas on what they would put on their caps. Most colleges and high schools in Virginia allow their graduating class to decorate their caps, so why don’t we have the opportunity to? We are more than capable of keeping them appropriate all the while being creative! Though it may seem small, trust us when we say it would mean the world to us.
So, please, join us in the cause to let us, the West Point High School graduating class of 2020, decorate our graduation caps. Sign, share, and help us have one last hoorah before we close one chapter of our lives and begin a new one.
