Under Trump, the EPA's Latest Move Risks the Extinction of Our Entire Planet

On July 29, 2025, the head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lee Zeldin stood inside a truck dealership in Indiana and made an outrageous, devastating announcement: the U.S. government plans to protect cars, trucks, and their makers instead of the health and wellbeing of its people.

How do they plan on doing this? By working day and night to repeal a 2009 finding that proved greenhouse gas emissions were hazardous to people. This 2009 finding has set the legal precedent for countless rules and regulations that stop car and truck manufacturers, as well as power plants and the oil and gas industry, from killing us with pollution.

Sign the petition and tell Lee Zeldin and the EPA you do not want your right to clean air stripped away!

The repeal of this rule is propped up by conspiracy theorists and unreliable researchers. You see, Trump's team hired five climate-denying scientists to quickly throw together a new report that attempts to downplay the horrific impacts of climate change, casting doubt on the need for human intervention.

By comparison, the 2009 decision was based on 200 pages of true scientific findings that declared climate change and carbon emissions "endanger both the public health and the public welfare of current and future generations." This decision has formed the backbone of many attempts to protect the American people, the world, the Earth, and wildlife from the constantly-escalating effects of the climate crisis.

While Trump and his cronies have tried in vain to claim that the 2009 decision was somehow bogus or has gotten less true, the harm that emissions-fueled climate change has caused people has only gotten worse. For example, in 2021 a study found that from 1991 to 2018, nearly 40% of heat-related deaths "could be attributed to human-amplified climate change."

Add to that the fact that years of devastating floods, fires, and other natural disasters made worse by climate change have claimed countless lives and it's not hard to see it: climate change is slowly killing us and our planet.

The U.S. owes it to the world to be a leader in fighting the emissions that are driving climate change; if the nation starts actively backtracking on efforts to cut pollution and greenhouse gases, the world does not stand a chance against climate catastrophe.

We cannot stand by while Trump's EPA throws all progress towards a safe, healthy future out the window. Right now, the repeal of this finding is just a proposal -- that means we still have time to make our voices heard! Sign the petition and tell Zeldin and the EPA: do not repeal the standards for regulating greenhouse gas emissions!
