Tell the Senate: Stop GOP Obstruction
In 2005, many Senate republicans claimed that filibustering judicial nominees was unconstitutional. But these days it's just business as usual. GOP senators continually delay up-down votes on judicial nominees purely for political games.
These nominees don't lack qualifications. In fact, often when GOP senators finally allow a vote, the nominee is overwhelmingly approved, but only after months -- and in some cases more than a year -- of delay tactics.
Obstructing votes isn't just partisan bickering, it actually obstructs justice in America. Federal courts cannot do their jobs with so many open seats. Every day that this vacancy crisis persists is a day that countless Americans are denied access to justice and the basic protections of their fundamental rights afforded to them by a fair and functioning judicial branch.
Tell the Senate to stop the partisan politics and do their job to vote on judicial nominees.
Dear [Decision Maker],
The Senate must confirm the judges who will keep faith to the Constitution -- it's amendment, its history and its core values like equality and justice under the law. We've had enough delay and procedural foot dragging. It's time for Republicans to stop their obstruction of judicial nominees.
