Tell Pittsburgh City Leaders: We Want 5G Now

Right now, elected officials in Pittsburgh are making decisions that will shape the future of ultra-fast 5G wireless service for our community. If you want 5G here in Pittsburgh, your voice right now is critical.

What would 5G look like? Lightning-fast mobile connectivity — eventually up to 20 times faster than 4G. And staggering network capacity — imagine sharing crystal clear video from the middle of a sold-out Heinz Field. But 5G isn't just the next "G" in your phone — it's a societal game-changer on par with the advent of electric power a century ago.

First responders could coordinate faster, sharing vital emergency information in real-time. Virtual healthcare and remote, robotic surgery could elevate telemedicine to new levels for those who need it most. Smart pavement and traffic lights could cut congestion. We may even see safer streets and neighborhoods thanks to better security monitoring and smart lighting. And that's just a taste of what's coming: the greatest 5G breakthroughs have yet to be imagined.

But to make 5G a reality, and make Pittsburgh a cutting edge "Smart City", our elected leaders need to know there's widespread public support. Wireless providers are in discussions to build the 5G network Pittsburgh needs, but in order to speed up deployment, local leaders need to come together and remove any barriers to entry that could derail the plan. We can't let Pittsburgh be left behind while other cities lead the 5G revolution.

Tell Pittsburgh officials to get the 5G rollout moving now and open up new ways for our community to live, learn, work and play.
Dear Mayor Peduto and Council Members,

As a local community member, I'm writing to urge you to help bring 5G to our city. It will speed up the city's goals for improved city service delivery and enhance efforts to make the city even more attractive and competitive. The benefits to people who live and work in Pittsburgh, to local businesses and to the entire community are too great to let municipal delays get in the way:

- 5G will supercharge local job growth — With the potential to attract new businesses, it's estimated 5G will create some 3 million jobs across communities that build 5G and inject $500 billion into the national economy.

- 5G will improve city services, transportation and public safety — First responders could coordinate faster, sharing vital emergency information in real-time. Smart pavement and traffic lights could cut congestion and reduce harm to the environment. We may even see safer streets and neighborhoods thanks to better security monitoring, capacity video security and smart lighting.

- 5G will lower health care costs while elevating care — Raising the potential of virtual healthcare to new levels, and making remote care even more effective and accessible to those who need it most, as well as reducing the cost to the healthcare system.

This is your chance not only to deliver for your constituents, but to demonstrate thought leadership and be part of transforming our city. Please do whatever you can to help accelerate 5G in Pittsburgh.

Sincerely,
