Changing the North American Shonen Jump into what it is in Japan.
Shonen Jump is a magazine filled to the brim with 500 pages of 24 extremely popular manga (Japanese comics) titles that sells 3 million copies every week, which is when it hits the newsstands. The price is 220 Yen, approximately less than $2 USD or $2.20 Canadian.
At least, this is what Shonen Jump was. You see, when it came overseas to North America, it got a massive makeover. It now has approximately 300 pages, with only 7 manga titles, costs $4.99 USD or $7.99 Canadian per issue, and worst of all, is released monthly.
In Japan, Shonen Jump magazine is made out of horrible paper, in terms of quality. Here in North America, its made out of great quality paper, and is a good magazine to stash instead of recycle. You might be saying that this is a good thing but, these magazines arent collectibles! Theyre black and white, and in Japan cheap. REALLY cheap. Youre supposed to read it, then throw it out. Like a newspaper. Im starting to realize this, I have all of the Shonen Jumps that I bought in my room, and its taking up a LOT of space.
So come on everyone! Lets fix Shonen Jump to make it more enjoyable with more content at a cheaper price! Sign my petition!
