Single-use plastic water bottles are a relatively new phenomenon - they exploded onto the scene in the '90s, and have since become the norm for drinking water.
Before you reach for a plastic single-use water bottle, consider the following:
- 91% of all plastic produced is not recycled
- By 2050, the ocean is expected to contain more plastic than fish (by weight)
- 1 million single-use plastic bottles are sold every minute around the world
- Bottled water costs 2,000 times more than tap water
