The U.S. Should Offer Paid Parental Leave!

Fox News contributor Mike Gallagher recently waged war on working moms when he berated Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly for taking maternity leave -- calling it a "racket" -- and whined that men don't get a break when they have a baby.

In fact, as Kelly reminded him, the Family and Medical Leave Act guarantees workers of any gender (who meet certain criteria) up to 12 weeks of parental leave. But unlike other countries in the developed world, including France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Australia, and many others, that parental leave is unpaid.

It's time for the U.S. step up and join other advanced countries in offering working parents paid leave for the preparation and care of new children. Tell Congress to support paid parental leave in the United States.
Dear Congress Member,

The United States is one of the only developed countries in the world that does not guarantee paid parental leave for working mothers and fathers who meet certain criteria, such as the length of time they have been at their place of employment, for the birth and care of a newborn or the placement of an adopted or fostered child.

Please support amending the Family and Medical Leave Act so that the United States can join France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Australia, and many others in offering paid parental leave to new working parents.
