My name is Eric, and I run I Love Every Dog. Right now, your tax dollars can legally be spent to experiment on dogs and cats. I do not think that is something most Americans would choose if they were asked. A new bill in Congress finally gives us the chance to end it.
On September 23, 2026, Representatives Mark Pocan and Nick Langworthy introduced the bipartisan Companion Animal Protection Against Cruel Testing Act, known as the COMPACT Act, to eliminate federal funding for experiments on dogs and cats. This comes as the current administration has already announced a historic drawdown of animal testing across federal agencies. The momentum is real. Now Congress needs to finish the job.
Dogs and cats used in taxpayer-funded research are often confined to small cages for years, subjected to invasive procedures, and euthanized at the end of a study, all paid for with public money and often with little transparency about what the testing even accomplished. Cruelty-free alternatives exist and are already used successfully across private industry. There is no good reason federal agencies should still be funding this.
The COMPACT Act already has bipartisan sponsors willing to put their names on it. What it needs now is a vote. I am asking Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune to bring the COMPACT Act to the floor for a vote in their respective chambers, and I am asking every member of Congress to co-sponsor and support it.
Every day this bill sits without a vote is another day taxpayer money funds needless suffering for dogs and cats who never had a choice in the matter. Please add your name and tell Congress to pass the COMPACT Act now.
