Even though the war in Ukraine has begun to fade from the headlines, thousands of people are still grave danger. Millions have lost their homes and are displaced both within Ukraine and in other countries.

Sojourners' mission is Faith in Action for Social Justice. As people of faith, we believe that peace, to live without fear of war or displacement, is a basic human right. While the prophet Isaiah's vision of nations beating swords into plowshares may seem utopian, the presumption of peace is both a practical and moral imperative. We must channel that vision into advocacy for practical alternatives to violence.

Russia's military aggression against Ukraine has horrified the international community and accelerated diplomatic and humanitarian crises around the world. To make peace is not to avoid natural human conflict, but to step toward it with unarmed resolve to restore right relationships, to heal wounds, to model hope, and to fiercely seek a just peace and pursue it.
