Hold China's Government Accountable for the Safety of Its People

Do you fear the food your government approves? In China, parents have good reason to be concerned about the food their children eat: four children are dead and more than 50,000 children have fallen ill from the recent milk crisis.

Some Chinese milk manufacturers are using a chemical in their milk that is commonly used for manufacturing plastics. The industrial chemical known as melamine is used in watered-down milk to boost the appearance of protein levels. This lowers the cost of milk production but at the expense of children's health.

Hazardous levels of melamine were detected in 24 out of 295 milk batches tested. Melamine is known to cause fatal kidney stones, and chronic exposure can cause cancer or reproductive damage.

Chinese food manufacturers are not responsible for guaranteeing the safety of their products. Send a letter to China's State Food and Drug Administration demanding that they test the quality of foods being produced in their country!
Dear State Food and Drug Administration,

Please protect the health of children in the People's Republic of China. Already, four children have died and more than 50,000 children have become ill because of the unsafe levels of melamine in their milk products.

Milk is an important source of protein, as well as other vitamins and nutrients vital to the growth and development of children. A healthy diet is very important for children because their developing immune systems are not yet able to fight off even simple diseases.

Some milk manufacturers are watering down their milk and adding melamine so that the level of protein appears higher than it really is. In fact, 24 of 295 batches of milk products tested were found to have hazardous levels of melamine.

The chemical melamine, which is used to produce plastics, is known to cause fatal kidney stone infections. Chronic exposure to melamine can cause cancer or reproductive damage later in life.

This kind of unethical practice by food manufacturers in unacceptable. However, it is your job to make sure that the food distributed is safe for consumption. Please, protect both children and adults by making sure that all food products are not harmful.
