Abusive Pet Store

As seen on Craigs List, the Barkworks pet store on Galleria at Tyler in Riverside has been very neglectful, careless, and abusive toward their animals. Animals have been seen pacing in their cages, drinking from rodent water bottles, and having bloody bowl movements. Here is one of the craigs list posts as well as the craigs list links. If you have seen any of this occur please contact riverside animal control and complain! you can also sign this petition so show that we are not going to ignore this!

Yesterday I was at the mall in Riverside ( Galleria At Tyler). As I previously stated I was looking for a pet carrier for my mom's dog. They have a store in the mall called Barkworks. they sell puppies and dog accessories. I went in there to see their selection of pet carriers. There were signs everywhere that said " We only deal with responsible breeders". Obviously I was sidetracked by the cute puppies in the windows, so I took a look around. At first glance, these puppies were adorable! I took a closer look in the glass kennels and noticed a little pile of blood in almost all the kennels. I then went to look a a golden retriever that caught my eye, because he was pacing back and forth very fast. He seemed to be uncomfortable and soon after he squatted down and had a bowel movement that consisted of pure blood. I notified the sales person at the front desk, who was quick to respond that " this was a side effect from antbiotics and dewormer. The puppies are fine". He didn't care.
IF I believe what the sales person said, this should still be illegal. Nobody should sell any dog, cat that is pooping blood until it has fully recovered. Someone emailed me and said I was just as guilty for buying a pet carrier there...I never said I bought one! I said I went in there to LOOK! After what I saw, I would not support a store or a cause that doesn't put the welfare of pets first. The only reason I looked there in the first place, was because both PETCO and PET SMART didn't have the carrier I'm looking for. My mom wanted a carrier that had wheels on it, for travel purposes. I did report this to animal control, however I don't know how promptly they respond to such complaints.
If you shop at the Galleria At Tyler, I suggest you go in there and say something. And while you're in there... go to the left and then look at the poor golden retriever that's in the glass kennel at the bottom. This was the poor guy that is probably there today, and still suffering."
