This petition is for the West Midlands and Birmingham region to support us in establishing a regular and direct flight between Birmingham and Doha with 5-star airline Qatar Airways, in time for the summer season which starts next month. The reason for this is because Birmingham needs a high quality airline which can connect to many destinations of which direct routes to Birmingham have been axed or cannot currently be reached directly, such as Amritsar and the Far East. Such a route would also benefit the community and the region in many ways, especially businessmen. This service would offer new opportunities for West Midlands travellers to reach new destinations which cannot be accessed directly from Birmingham.
Please help us by supporting the petition and get the word out, by emailing the link to your friends to encourage them to sign it too and promoting the petition in many other ways, which would help us reach our 1,000 signature goal faster. Dear Qatar Airways,
Please take this petition and signatories' comments into deep consideration as Birmingham is in a need for a high quality airline like you, and by this, there's no doubt there is huge customer demand and interest. Think about how you could help the Midlands region, especially the airport, by having a well-serviced airline serving England's second city, while the capital and Manchester have services already, by opening up many new destinations and connections. The signatures on this petition will show the demand for an operation, so demand will certainly not be an issue.
I also believe that Birmingham will become one of the fastest growing routes in your network, because of the facilities and culture the city has to offer. Many long-haul services haven't survived for long here, mainly due to aircraft or customer demand. Emirates has had great success over the past ten years and no sign of it being axed any time soon, so I think Qatar should follow in it's steps, by starting with a small widebody A330-200 aircraft before upgrading if the route is successful.
I believe the route has been pushed back too many times, and now is the time to start it. It will really boost the economy of Birmingham and this service would be the key to Birmingham becoming a global city, like London, Paris, New York, Dubai, China etc. So please evaluate these signatures and consider starting this new route as it is very well needed.
