Let Peter Rabbit Stay At Home
Since the local ordinance of no livestock did not go on the books until 1988, and Peter Rabbit was born in 1976, it is possible to grandfather him in. It is not unreasonable to allow for a clause that states that no livestock are permitted since 1988. The recent pressure to remove the 32 year old horse is based solely on a developer's wishes. If that were not true, Peter Rabbit would have been removed from his pasture in 1988. It's not his fault that the town grew up around him; that he currently lives on land that was not originally inside the town limits. Let Peter Rabbit live out what little is left of his life in a pasture that he is familiar with.
We the undersigned request that you exhibit compassion and concern for the plight of one very old horse and his owner. We have read your posted "The Other Side of the Story" and still feel strongly about this. No, we are not all from your community. But we are all from the human community who acknowledge horses as companions. The eyes of the world have been focused on you. Please, we urge you, do the right thing.
