No Growth Area Expansion at Ashwood Boulevard

The Board of Supervisors is considering adding a large new parcel to the "growth area" for a big box retailer on the west side of route 29 opposite Ashwood Boulevard This would increase traffic and congestion - all of it focused on the Ashwood Boulevard entrance to Forest Lakes South.  We don't need it and don't want it.  The road infrastructure  to handle added development at this location is not in place and there are plenty of other areas for commerical development that have already been approved and have not yet even broken ground.  The plans included in 'Places 29' to build a road system west of Route 29 (Berkmar Drive Extended with a bridge over the Rivanna River) need to be approved, funded and constructed before any added growth is approved.  We want you to fix existing problems - not to cause new ones.

We the undersigned:

Oppose authorizing new development in the Ashwood Boulevard area to enable building another "big box" retailer.

We do not want more traffic and congestion.  The road infrastructure is not in place to handle it, and there are plenty of other approved but not yet developed areas for new commericlal building.

The Places 29 Plan to build a road system west of Route 29 (Berkmar Drive Extended with a bridge over the Rivanna River) needs to be approved, funded and constructed first, before any added growth is allowed.  Without this infrastructure all the traffic would have to use the existing Route 29 - Ashwood interchange - and would back it up substantially.

Please focus on solving existing problems - not creating new ones.

Thank you for taking the time to read and act on our request.
