Protect Moray Firth Dolphins

Protect Moray Firth Dolphins and Marine LifeNow more than ever before, we need to ensure that the dolphins and other marine life that live in the Moray Firth get protection. This is one of the most incredible places in this country to see wild dolphins up close. The population of dolphins is fragile and their protection is slipping away.Threats include:Highland Council allows Whiteness Marina to build marina for 500 boats designated by law to protect the bottlenose dolphins that live there. This is despite a government funded independent scientific study that concluded only 220 boats should be allowed to ensure the safety of the dolphins. There is also the threat of seismic surveying for oil and gas as early as this summer. These surveys are likely to encroach into the protected area of this small and vulnerable population. There is also the Exercise Joint Warrior – Europe’s largest military exercise which takes each year in April and October. And to crown it all, Crown Estate has just released its wind farm zones which are likely to impact this area and its wildlife. Please pledge your support. Thank you, Paul
