Tell Harvard to End Torturous Primate Testing
Harvard University is not being hailed in the news for its impressive graduates or worldly academics right now, but rather they are being condemned for their primate research facility in MA which has recently been cited five times for not complying with the Animal Welfare Act.
Included in the citations are: the death of a monkey (after it was caught in a handheld net), the reports of several monkeys being in psychological distress, as well as reports of monkey enclosures being too small for their inhabitants.
Tell Harvard that these citations are inexcusable and ask that they urgently remove monkeys from their research laboratories. The intrinsic worth of these animals is far greater than the need to perform torturous testing on them.
We the undersigned are writing to express our outrage over recent events that have transpired at Harvard University's Southboro Primate Research Center which includes the death of one innocent monkey.
Recent reports indicate that Harvard has been cited five times for not complying with the country's Animal Welfare Act. This is absolutely inexcusable behavior for one of the world top universities.
Included in the citations are: the death of a monkey (after it was caught in a handheld net), the reports of several monkeys being in psychological distress, as well as reports of monkey enclosures being too small for their inhabitants. These are all events that could have been avoided had the proper care been exercised when dealing with these living beings.
These constant citations are inexcusable and we are imploring you to urgently remove monkeys from your research laboratories once and for all. The intrinsic worth of these animals is far greater than the need to perform torturous testing on them.
