District Attorney General Ron Davis, 21st Judicial District, State of Tennessee, sadly succumbed to cancer after an heroic fight, on Saturday, March 15, 2008.
It was written of General Davis that he "devoted his life to stopping bullies".
Oh how true that was!
And one of his most famous cases was the prosecution of Jennifer Siliski, Hollybelle Maltese Puppymill.
Ron's office made legal history in Tennessee with their vigorous pursuit of this horrific case of dog abuse and cruelty in 2004, ultimately resulting in Siliski's conviction on 9 misdemeanors. (The law changed 6 months later which would have permitted the charges to be a felony, had that been the law at the time of Siliski's arrest and the seizure of the 230 dogs and 18 cats!)
Although his office prosecuted many other case and made many convictions, it is the Hollybelle Maltese case that stands out in the eyes of animal advocates. It was the first time in Tennessee history that a DA's office took seriously the charges of animal abuse and cruelty.
Please join others mourning Ron's passing by posting a memorial message on his life in the area below.
PS It has been heard that Ron was greeted by Otis and many other Hollybelle Maltese that have passed on when he arrived at Rainbow Bridge. RIP, Ron!
PPS The photo at the left is from the 2005 Reunion of Dogs and Owners, taken in Janaury 2005. Approximately 100 dogs and owners showed up for the reunion.
To the Family of General Ron Davis:
Please accept the condolences of many who loved and admired General Davis. His compassion for the helpless animals has been noted and appreciated by many.
It was an honor to have known him!
