The Laurel Canyon/Mt Olympus Safety Project 2012

  • mottagare: We want to Petition the city in order to make the Laurel Canyon /Mt Olympus basin a safer environment for pedestrians and their inhabitants.

The residents of Laurel Canyon and Mt. Olympus should sign this petition in order to make their environment safer for themselves, their families and their children. While the posted speed limits are 25-35 miles per hour, few drivers, if any, follow the law. Police have been know to set up "speed traps" on the North side of the hill, however, it has done little to discourage speeders, especially on the South side of the Canyon. By implementing the following strategies, we can effectively make the area healthier and safer for the greater community.

1.) Create a sidewalk on the West side of Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

2.) Establish a parking area for the West side of Laurel Canyon Boulevard homes directly across from the Mt. Olympus entrance by rezoning the far right lane and creating parking lines for residents to park outside their homes.

3.) Add speed bumps at the two sets of lights forcing people to slow down.

4.) Change the timing of the light at Mt Olympus to 15 seconds instead of 8 seconds so a pedestrian can safely cross this busy street.

5.) Erect a radar sign that shows speeders how fast they are going.
