Stop Mass Extinction!

Please tell all your friends to sign!!!

Human beings are currently causing the greatest mass extinction of species since the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. If present trends continue one half of all species of life on Earth will be extinct in less than 100 years, as a result of habitat destruction, pollution, invasive species, and climate change.

Almost extinct are: 50% of all ocean life (Whales, Dolphins, Sharks, Tuna, Sea Turtles, 30% of all Coral Reefs, many fish species), Elephants, Bears (Polar, Panda, Brown, Grizzly), 50% all of Amphibia (Frogs, Samanders), Reptiles (Lizzards, Crocodiles, Alligators, Snakes), Insects (Wild Honey Bee, Butterflies, Spiders), Seals, Sea Lions, Birds (Eagles, Pelicans, Condors, Crows, Finch, Parrots, Cranes, Vultures), Apes (Gorilla, Chimpanzee), Wolves, Big Cats (Lions, Leopards, Tigers, Cougars, Lynx, Cheetahs), Rhinoceros, Kangaroos, Ocelots, Otters, Ferrets, Gazelles, Horses (Wild, Zebras), various Deer... and millions more: http://www.earthsendangered.com/

A majority of the USA's leading biologists are convinced that a "mass extinction" of plants and animals is underway that poses a major threat to humans in the next century, yet most people are only dimly aware of the problem.

The rapid disappearance of species was ranked as one of the planet's gravest environmental worries, surpassing pollution, global warming and the thinning of the ozone layer, according to the survey of 400 scientists commissioned by New York's American Museum of Natural History.

It will take hundreds of thousands of years to restore what is now being destroyed in a few decades!

1 billion people in Asia will be without drinking water by 2020, due to the melting of the Himalaya glaciers! Sea levels are expected to rise due to the melting of the polar caps already causing islands and coasts to disappear!
50% of our daily oxygen comes from ocean plant life, 35% from rainforests, 15% from forests. This environments will be almost destroyed in a few decades!

'We'll undergo the same fate as the people on Easter Island. 'Climate change is just at the very beginning. But we're seeing remarkable changes in the weather already.' - The human species is likely to go the same way as many of the species that we've seen disappear.  ~ Frank Fenner, professor of microbiology at the Australian National University.

I urge you to raise public awareness and to help make the necessary changes to prevent mass extinction of life on Earth!

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS PETITION
This petition's goal is to raise the attention of politicians, media (TV, radio, internet) and public to the urgency of mass extinction of species on Earth! Its ultimate goal are better laws to protect and stop the destruction of  natural environments and species!

WHO WILL RECEIVE THIS PETITION
This petition will be sent to the most influential governments and politicians, TV stations (CNN, BBC,TNT) and environmental organisations (Greenpeace, WWF, Wild Aid and others).

We the undersigned
feel the urgent need to raise attention to the mass extinction of species on Earth!
