Call on Barnsley care homes to accept a pay rise for our care workers!

Barnsley Council has offered money to private care homes in Barnsley to fund a pay rise for our hard-working care workers, but most of the homes have rejected this funding.

The council's Excellence in Care initiative would see care workers' pay increase to £9.72 per hour (£1 an hour above the National Living Wage).

The council wants to give our heroic care workers a pay rise and it's completely unfair that many Barnsley care homes are rejecting this cash. Our care workers have kept the country running during this pandemic and we were applauding them on the streets not too long ago.

We call on the homes who have not accepted taxpayer's money for this pay rise to do so and show these key workers the respect they deserve.
