We Demand The Highways Department Allows The Use Of Otter Warning Signs

Otters are a protected species under schedule 5 of the wildlife & countryside act but are still threatened by road traffic collisions. We lose hundreds or Otters each year due to being hit by vehicles and here at the UK Wild Otter Trust, we believe that by installing temporary road warning signs it may have a positive effect on this number being reduced each year. Otters prefer to cross over rather than under roads, especially when the watercourses or rivers are high or in flood as it saves them valuable energy. This is when our Otter population is at its most vulnerable and therefore, we would welcome the option of being allowed to place portable road warning signs at identified high risk areas of concern by working together with the local Highways departments to alleviate this growing issue and to trial their effectiveness.

To whom it may concern (edit later)
