How much is that adorable puppy in the window? Well for a consumer at a pet store the cost may be cheap but what it's really costing is the future of many dog's lives. Puppy mills are rampant in Canada and dogs are living in confined mesh or concrete crates, not enjoying companionship, exercise, love or skills necessary for a happy future; many times dogs are growing up without ever being outside! Puppy mills are around to maximize profit by animal abuse. Dogs are forced into heinous living conditions and forced to breed until their bodies can simply not produce enough puppies to make a profit. When they are no longer useful the dogs are thoughtlessly killed.
Puppy mills are NOT illegal in Canada unless the conditions are terrible! More so in Canada there is no jail time for those who abuse animals, even if they are repeat offenders. Puppy mills continue to exist because there is no law against them but also because they are unknowingly supported. Puppy mills sell widely to pet stores, so people buying puppies not only do not know where their new pet came from but also support these puppy mills. Please help stop the abuse and cruelty to dogs and sign this petition to make puppy mills illegal and to ban the selling of puppies in pet stores
