STOP KILLING 1691 STRICTLY PROTECTED WILD ANIMALS IN ROMANIA

Whether the ministerial order of The Romanian Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests , placed under public debate on Friday, September 30, for one day only, will go on, hunt will be the only alternative to control the conflict between humans and wild animals. This despite the odds set by authorities are based on a study that suggests the necessity of shooting 552 bears, 68 linx and 474 wild cats, without any recorded damage caused by these species. Authorities did not propose any alternative to hunting, such as the implementation of measures for preventing the conflicts with wildlife (guarding farm dogs, electric fences, repellents etc).
In addition, although many expert studies carried out by WWF and other NGO' s show that the estimations of wild stocks do not correspond with reality, in some cases reaching stocks five times smaller than those originally reported, The Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests in Romania continues to ignore the opinions of experts in conservation, the European legislation and the real causes of the problems.
According to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, the only acceptable solution: the shooting of 552 bears, 657 wolves, 482 wild cats.
