Governor and Republican Party Platform Chair Bob McDonnell said that when it comes to the exception of rape when it comes to abortion, this is just a "detail" to be decided by states and Congress.
He said that the GOP is just "reaffirming" their stance as a pro-life party and that there is no definite decision on the exception of rape.
However, not only is this offensive, it's also incorrect. The Republican Party platform supports the Human Life Amendment. This amendment would make the 14th Amendment -- which says that all people should have equal protection under the law -- apply to all unborn children. This would make abortion exceptions for any reason unconstitutional, regardless of the actions of Congress or the states.
Please tell Governor Bob McDonnell that rape is not just a "detail" and that every woman should have a choice over her own body!

You recently said that when it comes to rape exceptions for abortion, that rape is just a "detail" that should be left up to the states or Congress according to the Republican Party platform.
Not only is this incredibly offensive, but it's wrong. The Republican Party platform endorsed the Human Life Amendment, which would make any abortion exception laws unconstitutional, no matter what the states or Congress do.
Rape is not just a "detail" and every woman should have a choice.
