City of Marinette Water Utility Proposed Rate Increase

According to a report in the Eagle Herald on July 22, 2014, the Council voted in favor (6 to 1) to raise the water utility rate by 40% to compensate for a $150,000.00 shortfall found recently during their audit investigation.

We, residents of the City of Marinette, should not be held accountable for this accounting error which is currently being investigated. Our rate has increased significantly over the course of the last several years to fund a new facility and overtime compensation. We do not feel we should fund this current shortfall that was recently found. We believe we cannot afford another rate increase in our community after the recent increases we had and feel this situation should not be our responsibility to fund.

Tell the city of Marinette not to raise the water utility rate!
