Demand the WNBA pay their players a fair salary!

College basketball prodigy Caitlin Clark has just been selected as the number one overall pick in the WNBA draft. She's been signed to a deal where she'll make just $76,000 in her first year on the job.

In men's basketball, the MINIMUM salary for signing a player — any player — is $1.1 million dollars, or about fifteen times the salary that the *number one overall pick* in women's basketball will make. The first overall pick in men's basketball can expect to make 10.13 million, while in the NFL, the first overall pick can expect to make about $40 million. It is ridiculous and offensive that the pay disparity between men's and women's sports leagues is so high.

Pay WNBA players a fair wage!

It is currently estimated that the WNBA generates approximately $60 million in revenue, while $12.3 million of that revenue is distributed to its players. Sure seems like a lot more of that money could be going to the women who earn it!

The gender pay gap – the difference between the earnings of men and women – has barely closed in the United States in the past two decades. In 2022, American women earned just 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. Enough is enough. It's time to pay women their fair share — and let's start at the WNBA!
