Common Landscape Sago Palm is Deadly Toxic to All Animals including Humans

Sago Palms kill dogs every year, All parts of sago palm are considered poisonous, with the seeds (nuts) being the most toxic part of the plant. Sago palm contains cycasin, which is the primary active toxic agent resulting in severe liver failure in dogs. ... and severe liver failure can be seen within 2-3 days post-ingestion. This everyday plant that grows in homes across America is so dangerous even taking one small bite of the plant is enough to kill a pet, according to veterinarians. ... “One or two seeds is enough to kill a dog, or even a child.” I urge the FDA to insist on warning labels put on every Sago Palm sold, and would strongly urge that the FDA not to allow a plant so deadly to be sold at all.
