Tell South Dakota to Raise the Minimum Wage!

South Dakota's minimum wage currently stands at $7.25. In about two weeks, voters will decide whether to raise the wage to $8.50. Given the state's relatively low cost of living, the extra $1.25 would make a huge difference in the lives of low-wage workers and their families.

The current minimum wage is forcing families to eat at soup kitchens. 29-year-old mother of three Miriam Holliday admits to taking her family to a soup kitchen called The Banquet twice a week in order to stretch her paycheck. This type of practice strains charities so it's harder to meet the needs of unemployed and homeless persons.

Working people should be able to earn enough to provide basic needs, especially food. Please sign the petition to stand up for a minimum wage increase in South Dakota!
