Stop the Noise on Word of life Island Schroon Lake, NY !!!!!!
After several years of excessive noise levels We are asking the town of Schroon Lake to Stop the noise on Word of life Island. The noise and loudspeakers are so loud that they can be understood more than a mile away. This is a clear hindrance of the quality of life on Schroon Lake.
We have made noise complaints to the Town Supervisor Cathy Moses, other Town Board members as well as the state troopers. We spoke to the vice president of Word of life and we were promised 2 years ago this noise would stop. We have also recently spoken to the managers of the Island only to be told "We are not going to turn down the noise because they are doing important work. We are not concerned about your complaints."
We are asking the Town Board to put an end the excessive, inconsiderate noise levels from the Word of life Island. We are asking that a passing a noise ordinance preventing the Word of Life Island from disturbing the peace with excessive noise and destroying the quality of life on the Lake as well as the township.
Several years ago your Chapel on the Island burnt down and we all made allowances for the noise while your chapel was being rebuilt. The summer following you assured us that the noise will be dealt with. To date you have not corrected the noise problem. It has turned out that last night the Island called the state troopers complaining of being harassed by noise complaints. The Troopers responded with turn it down we have a large amount of noise complaints against The Island.
