DEMAND ROADS AND MARITIME TO REMOVE IBIS DEATH TRAP IN BLACKTOWN!

IBIS bird are being killed every week on Balmoral Street Blacktown.

The Palm trees located on the thin medium strip of Balmoral Street is a death trap for the IBIS colony that the palm trees attract and a hazard for drivers who swerve to miss.

Action needs to be taken to save these birds from dying on both sides of the medium strip on Balmoral Street Blacktown. Several people in the community have risked their lives to rescue injured dying birds and I am one of those people.

The safest way is removal of the trees from the this busy 6 lane road. A suggestion of pruning the trees has been suggested, however this would need to be done too regulary and high maintenance, there for should not be an option.

The White IBIS is protected under State Wildlife Legislation Nature Conservation Act 1992 and under the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Act 1974.
