Tell the Australian Government to protect Citizens and Industry using Solar Panels

Local government planning guidelines in Australia require private living spaces receive a specific amount of direct sunlight per day, but the rules around solar panels have not be specified to protect consumers, according to a report on abc.net.au

It's a problem that a South Australian resident had to confront recently when they learned a developer was planning to build a four-storey building next to their residence that would block the sun from hitting their solar panels, rendering them useless.

The report states: "the council stepped in and stopped the development — but the developer appealed to the South Australia Environment Resources and Development Court. Fortunately...the court found in the council's favour."

People generating power via solar panels should be protected by strong consumer rights legislation as they are helping reduce carbon emissions and slow down climate change.

Will you join me in telling the Australian Government to protect homes, businesses and community spaces with solar panels from developments that block sun hitting the panels. Please sign and share the petition.
