Stop Destroying What Little Greenery St. Helens Has!

A large field behind Trillium Street is being demolished so that way 74 duplexes can be built. There was a thriving forest and a diversity of plants and animals living where there is now nothing but mounds of dirt. The so called construction had been dragged out for months and frankly the only thing that looks like is being done is piling up dirt. However, it may look as though there is no chance of repairing damage that immense but we can do it! We need to stop construction before it’s too late to save. The plot of land was bought by a construction company but, city officials have not signed the papers needed to further construct the buildings. The company has destroyed a once peaceful home for animals as well as people. The wildlife that occupied it have are now moving in towards the urban areas, which is no place for deer, raccoons, squirrels, field mice and any creature at that matter. There used to be a camp where people unfortunately had to live, but without warming too them their tents and hope for a batter place we’re ripped away from them by the construction. Sound from the construction have taken a toll on people whose backyards are being moved in upon by the mounds of dirt. The machines are loud but building times are spontaneous, sometimes they run in the afternoon when people are out, other times they begin in the early hours in the morning, thus waking people who don’t need to be woken up at five in the morning. Exhaust from the trucks have polluted the air in the area making it hard for people with lung problems to breathe when they’d like to get some fresh air. In conclusion, it’s not right to demolish this small environment and together we can make a change!
